Mathias Burghardt

Navigating financial challenges and mastering Financial Markets: Mathias Burghardt is a Senior Associate in the Insolvency and Restructuring team. He is an experienced advisor in corporate crisis situations and an expert for your activities in the Swiss Financial Market.

Mathias has been working for more than 15 years mainly in national and cross-border restructuring and insolvency law. He has extensive experience in handling complex bankruptcy and liquidation mandates. He also advises and represents creditors in insolvency proceedings, in out-of-court restructurings, and supports clients in the recognition and enforcement of foreign restructuring and insolvency judgments in Switzerland. Due to his previous work with FINMA, Mathias has in-depth practical experience in assisting financial institutions at risk of crisis regarding regulatory measures and in times of stabilization, restructuring, and bankruptcy proceedings

Mathias Burghardt advises Swiss and international financial market participants and investors on regulatory issues in banking, financial market, and insurance law. He can draw on a broad understanding of the financial market law environment from his many years of work at FINMA. His practice focuses on assisting clients in obtaining regulatory licenses and approvals from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA and advising on compliance with financial market regulations.

He is also regularly involved in regulatory investigations into financial market and insolvency law matters and compliance issues on the instructions of supervisory authorities.

Mathias holds degrees in law from universities in Switzerland, Germany, and England. He also completed an Executive Master's degree in General Management at the University of St. Gallen.
